Q: How would you describe your experience at LivaNova?
A: I started in Clinical Technical Services, now known as the Customer Quality group, where I worked on product support for end users. I monitored customer complaints, helped with live troubleshooting and investigated issues. After a couple of years, I moved into Quality Engineering, where we looked at our post-market surveillance data and product issues to investigate trends. From there, I moved into Research and Development, where it was more about doing front-end product development and moving into human factors and usability engineering. I still handle the same group today, and just last year, I was promoted to a manager position. In this new role, I've been learning about the functionality and management of the labeling group as well. I feel blessed to have worked in different functional areas that align with the type of work that truly excites me and that have allowed me to grow with the company over the years. In addition, I love working with so many wonderful colleagues who share the same mission and values. Those are the top reasons why I enjoy working at LivaNova.
Q: Is there a woman who has mentored you or inspired you throughout your career?
A: My mother is the best example. Our entire family are first-generation immigrants to the U.S. My mom and dad came here when they were in their 40s. It was a difficult start for them, moving to another country with a different culture and language. My mother's ability to move into a new career from what she had in China to balancing her role as a mother has inspired me throughout the years. I admire her diligence and tenacity. Her approach to problems has helped me throughout my career.
Q: Can you share with us a little-known fact about yourself?
A: I've traveled to 46 out of the 50 states in the U.S., and I'm hoping to make it to the remaining states before I turn 50. It will be my 50 before 50!
